As an aviation geek, Plane Finder has been a super fun project to work on with the team at Pinkfroot. I was initially hired by them to design an overhauled version of their flagship app for the iOS app store. This process involved a complete overhaul of the UI and UX, along with the introduction of some new features.
With a user base of over 300K, it was important that while we needed to bring a new bright and fresh UI to the app, we didn’t alienate or confuse their existing users. This was a fantastic challenge and although we weren’t successful in pleasing all users, the majority provided some very positive feedback on how easy to use the new UI was to use. The app continues to grow and consistently holds a top 50 place in the ‘top paid app’ charts on the Apple app store.
Since launching the new UI for the Plane Finder app, I have worked very hard with the team to introduce brand consistency and familiar user experience throughout the suite of Pinkfroot apps. This has included working on several other projects including Flight Finder, Plane Finder 3D, Airline Finder, Ship Finder, PlaneFinder.net and Plane Finder Data.
