The brief

An existing client of mine came to me in need of a brand for a new company he was starting. Runcube is a US only jobs board that plans to take on the heavyweights of the jobs board world, Indeed and Simply Hired.

The client was a massive fan of the simplicity that these two brands stood for and the brief was to create something similar that encapsulated a logo that they could use throughout their online and offline material.

The process

The client provided me with a very short and open ended brief but before I had even started sketching out my ideas, I had a clear vision in my mind of what the logo should look like. My client was particularly fond of the SimplyHired brand, so I drew inspiration from this and many brands that contain a hidden image, such as Amazon and Cisco.

As you can see from the initial concepts below, my idea was to have a running man inside a cube formed from a geometric grid. Like the logos of Amazon and Cisco I wanted a logo that looked good in it’s own right, but that also contained a hidden image.

The result

Developing a brand usually involves working with several ideas and producing as many concepts. However this project was an exception to the rule and resulted in a very happy client.
